RALLY MINI

Don't believe you can rally an M03? Have a look at these pictures from our last race meeting...

Of course you cant just put a standard M03 out on the track and expect it to work... So here's a quick guide on what we did with our cars.

Shocks - Tamiya Super Mini or TRF, and build them at standard length (i.e. no internal spacer) and fill them with whatever oil you feel like. It honestly doesn't seem to make much difference! As a guide, the car pictured has 35wt front and 15 wt rear. Use the long Tamiya springs if you have them, or use spacers to adjust accordingly to get the ride height. Yellow springs front and red rear seem about right but some guys have had success with the standard chrome springs even.

Looks cool doesn't it.
Front suspension, around 16mm ride height is the most that you should use
Rear suspension, around 18mm ride height is where you want it

Guess what, RC18 or Mini-T tyres will go straight onto Mini wheels! How easy's that! Our preference is for the Proline RC18 Mini Bowties. They last forever and ever (the car pictured had had about 12 battery packs through it) and work very well. The extra sponginess in them also seems to help the suspension work better too.
For a 'true' rally look, you can use cut down Tamiya rally blocks. They look awesome!!

And you WILL need a bash guard. Ours are made out of scrap 1mm lexan and held on with a single screw up front and servo tape underneath.

Simple, but effective.
Heaps of tyres available, but we'd go for the Proline
Protect those electronics, tape it up or you'll regret it! The dirt gets in EVERYWHERE!
